Hey everyone! I have spent the last couple weeks developing a new blog on my own site. You can find it at www.pritchardphoto.com/blog . I'll no longer be updating this page. Please check out the new blog and comment! Thanks.

Whew!

Ok! Well I haven't had ANY time to do much of anything with photography for the last month and a half. Leah and I have been sprinting all over the country - Vermont, Missippi, Florida - and then last week we got back from our first trip together to China. It was an awesome time and we're still recovering from the interesting food and smells of China :) I took a ton of photos and really like some of them but unfortunately don't have a ton of time to edit them right now.

I do want to share a couple neat things though. In 2005 after I came home from China, ELIC asked if they could use my photos from the year in some of their marketing materials. I said sure and gave them a copy of basically every photo I took during my year there. I did that asking that they would only give me a copy of whatever materials they used my photos for. Today I got an email from one of the counselors with a few jpegs showing how my photos have been used. I am so happy that I was able to help in this way with my photography. Take a look at what they came up with!

Tuesday Night Fun

Tonight I was bored so I decided to take some random photos around our apartment. I tried a technique that allows me to take a picture with a very shallow depth of field, creating a nice effect on the Christmas lights coming from our new tree. I was really happy with the results, so I'm sharing them here! Only 12 days of work left before Vermont for Christmas. Only 23 days of work left until Beijing. We are so excited for this next month of activities :) Thursday Mom and Dad Pritchard come to town to talk about Keep Believing Ministries and next week Nick is visiting with a friend and bringing various meats for us to taste. And the fruits of his new hobby, beer making. Should be interesting!

Today I started adding some "2nd Chance" photos to the recent gallery. 2nd Chance photos are ones that I haven't given much of a look at since I shot and then lost track of them over time. They are spread out in the recent gallery randomly. I am finding these photos because my new camera eats up so much of my 250 gigabyte harddrive that I need to go through my old photos and clean out the ones that just aren't that good. But I AM finding photos that didn't make the first cut when I looked through them. These are fun to find, sifting through old photos, many a couple years old. They bring back memories of seeing what I saw or thinking about what I was doing at that time. You can find these 2nd Chances and my other recent photos by clicking the link to the right. Let me know what you think!

In three weeks from today, Leah and I will be in beautiful Vermont, getting ready for Christmas and enjoying the beautiful scenery and fun with family. We can't wait!

Every year in Chicago, we play host to a market in the middle of Daley Plaza downtown. It's called the Christkindlmarkt. You can find food and small shops, mostly from Germany, but with other areas of the world represented as well. Leah and I took a train downtown last night and enjoyed a cold cold evening there. I wasn't expecting a Christmas tree or even a private nativity scene in the middle of Daley Plaza, but enjoyed them both. We came away with some excellent hot chocolate, some sweet treats, a tree topper, and some fun photos!

Today we're headed to Harvard Illinois to Ben's Christmas tree farm to find and cut down the perfect balsam fir for our apartment. We can't wait to have our placing smelling like Christmas!

Thanksgiving

I finally got home to Chicago to look at some of the very few photos I was able to snap just before Thanksgiving dinner. There is no after picture because being a Pritchard means if you don't eat when you can, you probably won't eat at all. So there was definitely an after picture but I was too fat and lazy to go there. It has been a totally crazy week...a close friend passing away, 20 hours of driving in a few days, fun and some relaxation with good food and family, and then finally a wake and funeral when we arrived back in Chicago. We ARE so thankful for everything God has given to us and provided for us. Below are some of the pictures of the cabin Thanksgiving in Tupelo Mississippi - enjoy :)
